We have recently released Maltego 3 with a new look including a very nice ribbon bar menu. If you want to know how to add an Office 2007 type ribbon bar to your own Netbeans platform application - you can download the Pinkmatter Netbeans ribbon library and demo project here (under BSD license).

This ribbon library integrates the Flamingo Swing component suite with Netbeans.
Features:
- Enables declarative action registration and ribbon composition via layer file
- Supports programmatic customization via service provider interfaces
- Supports additional UI controls via presenters (similar to Netbean's Presenter.Toolbar)
- Is Look & Feel independent
- Is free (as in beer and as in speech)
You can find a very nice tutorial here: NetBeans Platform Ribbon Bar Integration Tutorial

Hi!
A fantastic work, thank you - but is the future development affected by this informations from Kirill: old.nabble.com/Re%3A-Continuing-development-of-substance%2C-flamingo-and-others-p29576946.html ?

Not on my side and not now - we will continue and develop the Netbeans/Flamingo integration since we is use it in Maltego. Flamingo is already quite full featured (and not all features are even exposed in the current Netbeans integration package) - so this does not worry me too much for the time being.
Thanks for the feedback :-)
By the way Josh, will you support the Flamingo plugin for Substance in your Substance Netbeans module?

Thank you for the NetBeans Flamingo Integration demo. I'm using it in my project now. It's just what I needed to clean up the UI.

Hi Chris, Great work! Do we have any way to reduce the vertical size of the ribbon as sometimes we find it takes too much space from the user. Thanks in advance for any hint.
Cheers,
